Modelo 790 código 012: the police fee, settled before you go
Pay it before the appointment: the police website produces the Modelo 790, código 012 once you tick your procedure; settle it over a collaborating bank’s counter or online, and take the stamped copy along. Nothing is paid at the desk. This tasa is owed to the State for almost every police step a foreigner takes, and the form fills in the current amount itself, which is why we quote none.
Who it concerns
Whoever has a police step to pay for, from a first number to a replacement card.
The form
Modelo 790 código 012
Where it is done
Pay first, at a bank counter or online; then hand it in where your booking sends you
Put these in your folder
- The copy marked for the administration, with the bank stamp or online receipt
- Your own copy
- The EX form it goes with
Where the form is produced
The 790-012 is prepared on sede.policia.gob.es, the police’s electronic office, then printed. Your name, NIE or passport number and address go at the top; the amount appears on its own once a procedure is ticked. Every printed form has its own reference, so one form covers one procedure for one person.
Tick the box that matches your booking
The list runs from the NIE asked for on form EX-15 and the European’s green certificate to the TIE in its various cases and the return authorisation. Tick the one you booked and nothing else. A form paid for a neighbouring procedure does not cover yours.
At a bank, or online
Two ways to pay: over the counter of a collaborating bank (entidad colaboradora), which stamps the printed copies, or electronically, by card or online banking, which gives you a proof to print. Branches differ in how they take these payments, so ask before you queue.
Which sheet the officer keeps
The printout holds three copies: one for the administration, one for you, one for the bank. At the appointment the officer takes the first, bearing the bank’s stamp or accompanied by the online receipt, along with your EX form. Hold on to yours until the procedure is finished.
Other fees, other codes
Code 012 is for police work. Permits handled on Rúa Teófilo Llorente are paid with other codes of the Modelo 790, given in their own instructions. What you pay the State is separate from any charge for private help such as ours, and the cita previa costs nothing.
In Vigo
Whichever office of the province your confirmation names, Pontevedra, Tui or another, you arrive with the 790-012 already paid. For the authorisations of Rúa Teófilo Llorente, look for the fee code in the instructions of that procedure.
Questions people ask about this
How much will it be?
Whatever the form shows once your procedure is ticked. Amounts are revised from time to time, so trust the form over a figure copied from a forum.
Can I pay at the police office?
No. Arrive with it paid and the proof in your folder.
One form for the whole family?
No: one per person, and per procedure.
I ticked the wrong box and paid. Now what?
Complete and pay a new form with the right box. Recovering the first payment means a refund request of its own.
