Behind NIE Vigo: a Private Service, Not an Office

NIE Vigo is a private, independent service helping people who settle in Vigo and around its ría. We prepare with you the number, the green certificate, the card and the padrón, and hang each paper where it belongs.

Why this service exists

People reach Vigo for a berth on a trawler, a contract in a shipyard or a factory, a place at the Universidade, a relative already settled here, or simply the coast. The procedures are national, but the addresses are not obvious: permits on one street in the city, police procedures booked for a whole province, the padrón at the Concello on Praza do Rei.

What we do is prepare. We identify your procedure and the office it belongs to, complete the forms with you, hunt for an appointment and review the folder ahead of the day. Tax, estates and the fine print of immigration law are for a lawyer or a gestor, and we say so when a question strays there.

NIE Vigo answers to no public body. The Concello de Vigo, the Xunta de Galicia, the Policía Nacional, and the Delegación del Gobierno en Galicia with its Oficina de Extranjería are all unconnected to us. Every step on this site can be taken with them directly, for the official fees alone.

A mussel raft close up in the Enseada de San Simón, the innermost cove of the Ría de Vigo, off Cedeira in Redondela: a grid of dark weathered timber beams sits just above the grey water with hundreds of mussel ropes, tied on with orange cord, hanging straight down into the sea, two large blue floats and a small white identification sign stand on the deck, a second rust-red raft with coiled ropes floats behind, and a long iron trestle pier and a terraced green hillside dotted with houses fill the background

Our side of the work

  1. Two kinds of address, kept apart

Teófilo Llorente decides permits; the police of the province issue numbers and cards. We put your procedure on the right side before anything is booked.

  2. Galician, Spanish, then English

The Concello writes in Galician, police forms are in Spanish, and you may think in English. Each term is explained the first time it turns up.

  3. Your passport, your route

A Portuguese commuter, a Filipino deckhand and a British couple in Baiona need three different sets of papers. We answer for yours alone.

  4. A private service, said plainly

The police, the Delegación del Gobierno and the Concello decide; we prepare. You are free to take every step yourself, paying only the official fees.

Not the administration

NIE Vigo is run privately and independently. The Policía Nacional has no part in it, and neither do the Delegación del Gobierno en Galicia with its Oficina de Extranjería, the Xunta or the Concello de Vigo: none of them runs, funds or endorses this site. Nothing we do can speed up, change or reverse their decisions. Our guides inform; they are not legal advice. Dealing directly with the administration remains open to you, at the cost of the State’s fees alone.

Further out on the ría

Two independent firms, for a bigger move or a NIE from afar

Our part of a move to Vigo is the forms and the appointments. Some people want more of it done for them; others want to travel less. Two private firms, with no tie to any administration, can take part of the load: AnchorLess for a relocation from beginning to end, Gestoraz for a NIE requested without coming to Spain.

Which raft are you tied to?

A few lines are enough: your nationality, where around the ría you live or will live, and what has to be ready by when. We answer by email with the route that fits.
