Number, booking, Europeans
Cita previa NIE Vigo: the booking is made for the province
It is booked online, free of charge, through the State’s cita previa service at sede.administracionespublicas.gob.es: select Pontevedra, the province (the system lists provinces, not towns), next the trámite your form belongs to, and then a slot. The confirmation names the office. Most mistakes start at the second step, because the procedure you pick decides which offices can appear at all.
Who it concerns
Residents of the province facing any police step: a number, EU registration, prints for a card, permission to return.
Where it is done
Named on the cita previa confirmation you receive
Put these in your folder
- Passport or NIE number
- Name and nationality as on your document
- An email address for the confirmation
- The exact name of your procedure
Have these beside the keyboard
- Passport number (or NIE, if one has already been assigned to you)
- Your full name, letter for letter as the document prints it
- Your nationality
- An email address and a phone number for the booking
- The name of the procedure your form belongs to
The trámite decides the doors
After Pontevedra, the system asks for the trámite. The police procedures form one block: the NIE on form EX-15, a European’s green certificate, the TIE prints, a return authorisation, and so on. Choose the one that matches your form exactly. The officer deals with the procedure you booked, and a mismatch can cost you the morning.
Authorisations, such as a permit to work, family reunification, arraigo or a residence card for the relative of a European, belong to the Oficina de Extranjería, on Rúa Teófilo Llorente in Vigo or Calle Michelena in Pontevedra, and have entries of their own.
Why the office may not be in Vigo
The current policia.es list has five police units for foreigners in the province: the Brigada Provincial in Pontevedra, the Centro de Cooperación Policial y Aduanera in Tui, the comisarías of Marín and Vilagarcía de Arousa, and the Unidad de Extranjería y Documentación in Salvaterra de Miño. Vigo is not among them.
It used to be. Until early 2024, copies of that list kept by the Internet Archive show the Comisaría de Vigo Traviesas, C/ Álvaro Cunqueiro 6, with the full set of procedures; an archived copy of the booking system’s office list for the province, from October 2021, offered the same station; and the Universidade de Vigo’s current arrival guide still names it. No official page we read says why it left the list, or what it takes today.
So the screen is the only place that tells you what is on offer for your procedure on the day, and the confirmation is the only paper that settles it.
Read the confirmation like a tide table
Before closing the page, check four lines: the procedure, the office and its street, the date and hour, and the reference of the booking (the justificante). Print it or save it; it is asked for at the door. If the office is not one you can reach, cancel with that reference and look again rather than turning up somewhere else.
An empty screen is not a closed door
Slots appear as offices release them, so a calendar with nothing in it today may show dates on another day or at another hour. Try the other procedures only if they genuinely fit your case: a booking made for the wrong one solves nothing. If you would rather not keep refreshing the page, start a request and we watch it for you.
In Vigo
Whether you live in Teis, Moaña or O Porriño, you select “Pontevedra” in the system. The police units on today’s policia.es list are in Pontevedra, Tui, Marín, Vilagarcía de Arousa and Salvaterra de Miño; C/ Álvaro Cunqueiro 6 in Vigo was on it until early 2024. The confirmation, not your postcode, decides where you go.
Questions people ask about this
Is the appointment free?
Yes. Only the procedure carries a State fee, settled on the 790-012; booking it costs nothing.
Can I choose Tui rather than Pontevedra?
Only if the system offers Tui for your procedure when you book. The offices on the screen are the choice you have.
Does Vigo have its own police unit for foreigners?
Not on the current policia.es list. Until early 2024 that list included the station on C/ Álvaro Cunqueiro 6, which the Universidade de Vigo still names. Your confirmation is the paper that counts.
I booked the wrong procedure. Can it be fixed at the desk?
Do not count on it. Cancel with the reference on the confirmation and book the right one.

Which raft are you tied to?
A few lines are enough: your nationality, where around the ría you live or will live, and what has to be ready by when. We answer by email with the route that fits.
